It happened 120 years ago in Bihar County

Festive assembly on the occasion of Hungary’s thousand year existence.

On the occasion of our country’s thousand-year existence nationwide commemorations, celebrations were held and a series of Turul-bird monuments were raised.

This did not happen otherwise in the country’s oldest county – Bihar – where the municipal committee held its festive assembly in Nagyvárad on 12 May 1896; and in the county’s oldest center settlement; the earth fort of Bihar a memorial column were inaugurated which had a turul-bird at the top with a sword in its beak. The monument disappeared before the Trianon Peace Treaty in 1919.
